2002-09-10 Summary TCS version 5.1 is a major upgrade of TCS. The new version comes with the new IQ dialers support, a range of improvements both in hardware and software. The new version provide new powerful features that will improve the efficiency of any telecom operator or carrier. The new IQ dialer is a high performance, broad function platform that unleash the power of latest hardware technology. The Voice Quality module provides the possibility to measure MOS Score on any destination in the world without having reference equipment on the destination. This is a breakthrough for the testing of networks. In addition the voice quality module measure other quality indicators. The new phonebook has been greatly improved, adding numbers is easier then ever, more parameter options on the test numbers has been added as a direct result from customer feedback. It is possible to use the built in or your own breakout. The manual call function has also gone through significant improvements, with new functions such as multi select on the routes, destination information, voice recording and summary reports. The news in TCS version 5.1 Support for the new IQ Dialer series. The IQ dialer is a dialer with it is own CPU power, a 19” 1U rack mounted unit. The performance of the new dialer is outstanding, with the possibility to make 30 concurrent calls including the recording, storing and analysing the voice channel quality on all test calls that are being performed. The dialer can make more than 3600 test calls an hour. It is possible to handshake with a set of a equipments; voice, fax, modem, ISDN 64kbps, video conference and more to come. More advanced users can design their own call set-up message. The voice channel recording allows the user to listen to announcements but can also be used to detect late connects “calling card fraud”. The dialer does not use session base communication with the server allowing it to be placed at remote sites with ISDN/PSTN connectivity to the server and perform scheduled test calls without the need to have a session established to the server while performing the test calls. The new IQ dialer comes in different models E1/T1 PRI and BRI ISDN and soon with support for SS7. The Voice Quality module provides the possibility to extract MOS score, signal and noise levels. It does not require special equipment on the destination and can therefore be used to practically any destination in the world from day one. The voice quality calculation is performed on the fly, from a voice sample of approximate 12 seconds. The module is being developed further and new functionality will be released in the following 12 months period. The TCS LCR import interface has been improved with several new possibilities. You can map columns of the imported file to markets or number ranges. On-line viewing and automatic presentation of the result on customised reports. These functions will allow you to validate your LCR changes very fast, saving time and improving your quality of service. The new phonebook contains more than 1600 markets (breakouts) with the option to load your own breakout table. The phonebook holds more detailed information about the destinations. Indication of the capacity, equipment type, preferred test numbers on each destination. The phonebook is delivered with a sample phonebook with more than 1200 test numbers. It is now possible to bring up different views of the phonebook allowing you to view it by region & country, by country in alphabetic order or number according to the breakout. The information function provides details about the destinations; location of the country, language, time zones, a map and other details. This function is available at different locations throughout the system. The information functions helps the user to quickly get a description of the destination including: time zone, language, geographic location and a map. The manual call function has been improved with automatic detection of market identifier on entered test numbers, dial a number and the TCS will tell where it terminates. It is also possible to do multi select on routes when making manual calls, you can now select multiple carriers instead of testing them one by one. TCS tests all the carriers and gives you the result call by call and produce a final summary report of the calls performed. This function has been added to allow helpdesk and trouble-shooters to find an alternative route fast when the a carrier failing. Finally it is possible to tell TCS the number of channels to use on the dialer when making test calls, to increase the speed of the test. The call priority function of TCS 5 always gives priority to manual calls, this ensures that manual calls will not need to wait for free channels in case a schedule is currently using the dialer for test calls.
